Sonographer (Ultrasound Technician)
Duties and
Responsiibilities:
An ultrasound
technician operates special equipment with sound waves to help diagnose
people's ailments. They work directly
with patients and physicians. Ultrasound technicians may specialize in
obstetric and gynecologic sonography, abdominal sonography, neurosonography,
breast sonography, vascular sonography or cardiac sonography.
Salary: $23,000
Education:
There are associate
degree programs that take two years and bachelor degree programs that take
about four years. People already in the medical field can enroll in a one year
certificate program. This is a currently a licensed occupation.
I wouldn't like to be
in this field because it doesn't really interest me but I might reconsider it.
