“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

Aristotle

Reflection: I believe that this statement means that if we just educate our mind, then we won’t have the knowledge to do what’s right because our hearts are not trained to make good decisions. If we make sure that our hearts are educated, then we will always be able to do good.

“It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company.”

ANON

Reflection: I think this quote means that it is better to be alone and do the right thing, than to be with someone who will make you do the wrong thing. If you hang around people who always making bad choices, you will begin to make bad choices. But if you’re alone and no one to influence you into making the wrong choice, you are more likely to do what’s right.

“You cannot do wrong and feel right. It’s impossible.”

 Ezra T. Benson

Reflection: I think this quote means that if you have done something wrong, it can be hard to have a clear conscience. Just because you feel good about it when you do it, it doesn’t mean that you always will. Maybe later on it will affect you in ways that you didn’t think it could. Then you will regret doing it. For example, when someone commits a crime, they don’t always feel bad about it at first. But later on, when they get caught, they will regret doing it because they realize how bad it was. And even if they don’t get caught, they feel guilty because they realize that they didn’t make the right choice.

“I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences.”

Robert E. Lee

Reflection: I think that this quote means that it is always better to do the right thing. Even if it doesn’t benefit you much. But it’s better to suffer and know that you helped someone else by making the right choice, than to make the wrong choice just benefit yourself and have a guilty conscience. Sometimes making the right decision has a price. It may not always be good for you, but someone always benefits from a good decision.

“Tell me what is right and I will fight for it.”

Woodrow Wilson

Reflection: What I think this quote means is that sometimes you may have to fight to do the right thing. But if you really want to make the right choice, it that won’t be a problem for you. One example of when you might have to fight to do the right thing is when someone is doing something wrong and you want to stop them. It may be hard to stop them because they probably won’t let you. But if you really care about them, you would do it no matter what.
