Student Success Statement

“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.”
Dean Smith

Reflection: I believe this statement means that if you do something right, it shouldn’t be so that people can remember you. You should do what’s right because you really want to. Not just because that’s what people want to see from you. If you really care about doing what’s right, you will do it out of the kindness of your heart. Not to get attention. When you do what’s right, everything else takes care of itself. No good deed goes unnoticed. But that doesn’t mean that you’re always going to get rewarded for doing something good. For example, if you help someone out with a problem, you shouldn’t expect anything in return. If you help someone it should be because you want help, not because you want something.
